Singapore in Colours - Street Photography
This was a project I embarked in 2013, to capture a fraction of a second each time, garnered into a collection of self-propelled creative zest, for documenting a chapter of my life in Singapore's streets and alleys, while encountering oodles of folks from the multifaceted walks of life.
As I vividly apprehend, the world seemed so disparate to me in that year particularly, vehemently enigmatic. Familiar strangers, over-saturated colours, wondrous cityscapes, speaking ABCs in poetry as I walked with tenacious footsteps to arrest those moments in time, from the realities, surrealism, and the enchantment that engulfed me.
Street photography to me is an immensely rewarding genre because you need to step out of your comfort zone to interweave candid artworks without knowing what you would reap by the end of the day. It is not just a glimpse of the slice of circumstances but how a photographer situates and observes the prevailing cultural milieu using the very lenses that encapsulate the curiosity of the inquirer. It involves patience, courage, quick response and sheer luck to get that less than average intuitive shot that might turn out compelling.
